- What is Sandalwood Buzz?
- A weekly ranking of upcoming Kannada films by pre-release buzz, from SouthSide Studio. It scores each film on four signals we measure ourselves: views on its official YouTube promos, how those promos do against their channel's usual, news coverage, and posts on our Namma Sandalwood network.
- How is the score worked out?
- Each signal gives up to a fixed number of points: YouTube views 35, lift over the channel's usual 25, news outlets 25 and our network 15, out of 100. On each signal the films that moved are lined up from lowest to highest, and a film's points are its place in that line. The full method, with a worked example, is on the method page.
- Why is a film missing?
- A film is ranked only if it is a Kannada film not yet released, has a page on our site, and moved on at least one signal in the week. We read only the official YouTube channels we have verified, so a promo on another channel counts for nothing here. Tell us the channel and we will check it.
- How often is it updated?
- The chart on this page is rebuilt on every site update, for the seven days to our newest reading. Each Monday the week that just ended is frozen as that week's chart and never changes afterwards. This chart's newest reading is 18:30 IST, 1 Nov 2026.
- Does SouthSide Studio promote films on this chart?
- Yes, some of them. Films we market are marked “Client campaign”. Our own network's posts are one of the four signals, worth 15 of the 100 points, and we say so on every chart. The other 85 points come from YouTube's public view counts and from news outlets.
- Can a film team ask for a correction?
- Yes. Write to contact@southsidestudio.in with the film and what is wrong, for example a missing official channel or a wrong release date. A frozen week stays as it was published, with any correction noted on the next chart.
